Founded in 1846 as the Society for the Relief of Destitute Children of Seamen, Seamen’s Society for Children and Families has made the safety and nurturing of vulnerable children its primary purpose. It is the oldest charitable organization on Staten Island. Through programs in foster care and adoption, medical and mental health services, prevention, domestic violence intervention, day care, educational support and youth development, Seamen’s Society has preserved its pledge to help children and families realize their full potential.
